At Axbridge C of E First School Academy, we strongly believe in the importance of reading. We want our young children to develop a love of reading from the minute they step through our doors. Research shows that children who enjoy reading not only do better in language and literacy subjects, but in all other subjects as well. Reading is essential in developing language skills and will ensure your child is exposed to different vocabulary and types of texts. We know that reading encourages a thirst for knowledge and leads to children asking questions and developing an interest in different cultures, languages and areas of learning. For this reason, our Whole School Curriculum places quality texts at its very core. We also know that a love of reading helps to develop a child’s imagination and creativity.
