Dear Families

On June 28th we will be organising a 'fun run' at the furlong to raise funds for the Brain Tumour Research charity and the Grand Appeal Charity. One of our wonderful students, Isla, has benefitted from the wonderful work they do and has written a few words about the charity herself.

"I would really like to raise money to buy something for the play team on Starlight ward. They gave me things to do when I was staying in hospital. Every day they help the children who are having cancer treatment to keep busy and do creative things. I would love to raise enough money to buy a Nintendo Switch or an Ipad so any children who might not have their own can enjoy having these to play with when they are in isolation for their treatment.

When I was in hospital I looked forward to seeing Sian ( the Oncology Play Assistant ) and having music therapy with Claire (these are both funded by The Grand Appeal charity).

I think this school fun run will be a brilliant way for us all to raise some money to help other children."

I know what an amazing community we have and how much the family have so valued your support. Now we can help Isla to help others who find themselves in her position, which is why the whole school will be participating (including many staff!) and why we are asking for your support in helping your child/children raise funds for such a worthy cause.

All children will take part in the fun run, regardless of whether they have raised money or not. It is their participation and support of each other on the day that is of the greatest importance, but we invite them to try and raise money for these charities if they are able to. A sponsorship form will be sent home in book bags today.
