Dear Families,

As many of you are aware, there has been much flooding across Somerset this week. Today, schools received updates from the local council, alerting us that the Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning for rain across most of Somerset between 11:00am and 10:00pm on Thursday, with an expectation of spray and flooding on roads.

The school has contingency plans in place for this situation and closing the school would be a last resort, as we are well aware of the impact this can have. At this point, we are confident of being able to staff the school and still ensure our staff can get home safely. However, I must make you aware that there is a possibility that the school day could be disrupted by the weather and it would be advisable to have alternative childcare arrangements in place, just in case.

As you can imagine, this is a situation we are monitoring very closely and we have to take seriously the health and welfare of not just our pupils, but our staff and the community we serve.

At this point, we are working under the assumption the school is open and it is business as usual. We hope that you all stay safe and should you be worried about any journeys home being dangerous tomorrow, then it would be advisable to contact the school and arrange to pick up your child/children early.
